Outside match days it's a different story. The stadium's own sightseeing FAQ answers the question "Is there luggage storage?" with a plain no. For concerts and other events, the organiser sets the arrival rules, so read their event page and don't count on a bag drop unless it says there is one.
A bag drop at a gate also means a queue at the gate, before the game and again after it. A suitcase is easier to leave somewhere else.
At a station with Deutsche Bahn lockers on your route. The S3 runs from Hauptbahnhof through Zoologischer Garten to Olympiastadion and on to Spandau, and both Zoo and Spandau have luggage lockers. Olympiastadion station itself lists no lockers on its Deutsche Bahn page.
Measure your case against the locker sizes before you go, and bring enough coins. The current price for each size is on the station's Deutsche Bahn locker page. Spandau is handy if you're heading out west or into Brandenburg after the game.
Ask your hotel or host to keep your bags after checkout, and ask a day ahead rather than at the desk. For an afternoon kick-off on your departure day, that's often the simplest option: go to the game light, then collect your luggage on the way to the train or airport.
Take the S3 or S9 to Olympiastadion, or the U2 to the U-Bahn station of the same name. Hertha gives the walk from the S-Bahn as about 250 metres to the Osttor and 200 metres to the Südtor, and from the U-Bahn about 500 metres to the Osttor. Hertha says every platform has a lift.
