Uber Arena Berlin Bag Policy: What Size Is Allowed and Where to Leave a Suitcase

The A4 rule, what the house rules ban, how the arena's own bag storage works, and why Ostbahnhof is the place for a suitcase.

You can take one small bag into the Uber Arena, and it must not be larger than A4, which is 21 × 29.7 cm. Suitcases are banned under the house rules, along with backpacks and bags whose longest side is larger than A4. The arena has limited paid storage for oversized bags and itself recommends the lockers at Ostbahnhof, about a 12-minute walk away.

What size bag is allowed at the Uber Arena?

One small bag or handbag per guest, no larger than A4 (21.0 × 29.7 cm). That's the wording on the arena's bag policy page. The house rules, dated March 2024, put it the other way round: backpacks, handbags and bags whose longest side is larger than A4 stay outside.

The promoter of a show can set stricter rules than the arena does. The arena says so on its policy page and points to the individual event page. Read that page for your date before you pack.

Can I bring a backpack?

Only if it's within A4, and even then it's a risk. The house rules and the arena's German security page ban backpacks, gym bags, cloth bags and plastic bags whose longest side is larger than A4. A normal daypack is well over that.

A very small backpack is inside the written limit. But the promoter can be stricter, and security has the last word at the door. A small shoulder bag or bum bag is the safer choice.

Can I bring a suitcase to the Uber Arena?

No. The house rules list suitcases as prohibited, in the same line as crates, cardboard boxes and strollers. If you're coming straight from the train or heading to the airport afterwards, the luggage needs a place to stay before you get in the queue.

Is there bag storage at the arena?

Yes, but it's limited. The arena says it has limited storage capacity for bags that exceed the size limit, for a fee per bag. Season ticket holders pay a reduced fee at Eisbären Berlin and ALBA BERLIN home games, and the arena says surplus proceeds go to the charity Anschutz hilft e.V.

Limited means it can fill up on a sold-out night. The policy page doesn't say where the storage is or whether it takes a full-size suitcase, so don't plan a suitcase around it. The current fee is on the arena's bag policy page.

There are also cloakrooms inside for coats, again for a fee. The arena is cashless, so bring a card for that.

Where can I leave a suitcase near the Uber Arena?

At Ostbahnhof, in the Deutsche Bahn lockers. The arena recommends the station itself and gives the walk as about 12 minutes. Deutsche Bahn's page for Ostbahnhof lists two locker sizes.

With only 36 large lockers, go early on a big concert night. Bring coins, because the arena being cashless doesn't help you at the station. The current price per size is on Deutsche Bahn's locker page for Ostbahnhof.

Warschauer Straße is the closer station, about a 5-minute walk according to the arena. Deutsche Bahn's page for it lists no lockers, though. If you have luggage, get off at Ostbahnhof instead and walk from there.

What if I'm staying in a hotel or flat?

Ask your hotel or host to keep your bags, and ask a day ahead. For a concert on your arrival or departure day, that's usually the least effort: go to the arena with a small bag and pick the suitcase up afterwards. Check until what time someone is there to hand it back, since shows end late.

What else can't I bring?

The house rules and the arena's FAQ list more than bags. These are the ones that catch travellers out.

Do the same rules apply at the Uber Eats Music Hall?

Yes, the limit is the same. The Uber Eats Music Hall next door allows one small bag up to A4 (21.0 × 29.7 cm), and its policy page says staff check bag sizes with a template at the entrance. It also has limited paid storage for oversized bags, recommends Ostbahnhof, and warns that promoters can be stricter.

How do I get there, and when should I arrive?

Take the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to Warschauer Straße, or any train to Ostbahnhof. The arena lists the S3, S5, S7, S9 and S75 plus the U1 and U3 at Warschauer Straße, and the S3, S5, S7 and S9 plus regional and long-distance trains at Ostbahnhof.

Doors usually open two hours before a show. For Eisbären Berlin games it's 1.5 hours, and for ALBA BERLIN about one hour before tip-off. The arena recommends coming early because everyone passes through security screening. Your ticket loses its validity once you leave, so you can't pop out to sort a bag.
